Featured Project Spotlight: MacDermid Agricultural Solutions Canada

For the design of the new lab at 400 Michener Road, WalterFedy's Architects and Engineers set out to design a modern facility to suit the MacDermid Agricultural Solutions Canada leading-edge research work. Containing Synthesis, Instrumentation, and Wet Research Labs as well as office facilities, equipment, and chemical storage, the design of each space was tailored to suit each use, with light fixtures chosen to match each program.

  • For the labs, suspended direct/indirect lights were chosen to provide higher light levels, even illumination and reduce shadowing.
  • For the offices, dimmable recessed/suspended lighting was used to accent the spaces and provide a modern high-tech feel to the open ceiling design. Photo electric sensor provides dimming control for daylight harvesting to reduce reliance on artificial lighting.
  • In back of house areas, more basic but long-lasting LED fixtures were chosen to provide durability and long-lasting performance.

Energy-efficient dimmable LED lighting fixtures were selected for all spaces with a low voltage lighting control system, and occupancy sensors for interior lighting control and high level of energy efficiency. The lighting design compliments and suits the needs of each space.
